Cuetzalan Magic Town

Cuetzalan is an enchanting indigenous gem, away from the noise and bustle of the city, in the Sierra Norte of Puebla. Upon arrival, you are enveloped by its cobblestone streets that lead to the colorful town center. Along the way you will see artisans, small restaurants, and local vendors dressed in their traditional attire. White and red facades, tile roofs, and the aroma of coffee in a place where time seems to have stood still. Also, if you are lucky and the weather permits, you can witness the show of the voladores. On weekends, the barter system is still practiced at its local food market. You will visit some of its natural wonders such as a waterfall and the Yohualichan archaeological zone.

Apulco

This will be the first stop on our tour, here we will appreciate the beauty of one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the way to Cuetzalan.

On a short morning walk, we will enter the green and thick vegetation to reach the cliffs that surround the imposing waterfall of more than thirty-five meters.

The view is spectacular and the fresh air of the area is ideal to start discovering the magic Sierra.

Cuetzalan del Progreso

Experience the magic town of Cuetzalan, located in the Sierra Norte of Puebla on a picturesque mountain plateau with terraces of abundant ferns caressed by the mist. This tour will take you through narrow streets filled with small coffee shops, embroidery, flower vendors, huaraches, workshops and food stalls.

Pause to admire the spectacle of the "voladores" and learn how the indigenous population of Cuetzalan preserves their ancestral traditions and way of life. A truly fascinating journey through time.

Yohualichan Archaeological Zone

Yohualichan or "The House of the Night" due to its Nahua origin, is an important archaeological zone that was established around the year 600 AD and is located just twenty minutes from Cuetzalan.

Its importance lies in the fact that it was the first settlement of the Totonac people and it is believed that this could have been the advance site for the subsequent migration to El Tajín.

The architecture of the ceremonial buildings in Yohualichan is arranged with the traditional niches that distinguished the Totonacs and its main pyramid is linearly oriented to El Tajín for approximately 60 kilometers.

Cuetzalan es una joya indígena encantadora, alejada del ruido y la agitación de la ciudad, en la sierra Norte de Puebla. Al llegar te envuelven sus calles empedradas que conducen al colorido centro del pueblo. Durante todo el camino verás artesanos, pequeños restaurantes y locatarios ataviados con su vestimenta tradicional. Fachadas blancas y rojas, techos de teja y aromas a café en un lugar donde parece haberse detenido el tiempo. Además si tienes suerte y el clima lo permite, podrás presenciar el show de los voladores. Durante los fines de semana aún se practica el trueque en su mercado local de alimentos. Visitarás algunas de sus maravillas naturales como una cascada y la zona arqueológica de Yohualichan.

Apulco

Esta será la primera parada de nuestro recorrido, aquí podremos apreciar la belleza de una de las cascadas más bellas de camino a Cuetzalan.

En una breve caminata matinal, nos adentraremos en la verde y espesa vegetación para llegar a los acantilados que rodean la imponente cascada de más de treinta y cinco metros.

La vista es espectacular y el aire fresco de la zona es ideal para empezar a descubrir la Sierra mágica.

Cuetzalan del Progreso

Experimenta el pueblo mágico Cuetzalan, ubicado en La Sierra Norte de Puebla en una pintoresca meseta montañosa con terrazas de abundantes helechos acariciados por la bruma. Este recorrido te llevará por calles estrechas repletas de pequeñas cafeterías, bordados, vendedores de flores, huaraches, talleres y puestos de comida.

Haz una pausa para admirar el espectáculo de los "voladores" y aprende cómo la población indígena de Cuetzalan preserva sus tradiciones ancestrales y su forma de vida. Un viaje verdaderamente fascinante a través del tiempo.

Zona Arqueológica De Yohualichan

Yohualichan o La Casa de la Noche por su origen nahua, es una importante zona arqueológica que se estableció alrededor del año 600 de nuestra era y se encuentra a solo veinte minutos de Cuetzalan.

Su importancia radica en que fue el primer asentamiento del pueblo totonaco y se cree que éste pudo ser el sitio de avanzada para la migración posterior a El Tajín.

La arquitectura de los edificios ceremoniales en Yohualichan está dispuesta con los tradicionales nichos que distinguieron a los totonacas y su pirámide principal está orientada linealmente a El Tajín por aproximadamente 60 kilómetros.
